Although being cheap and plentiful, palm oil, an ingredient found in personal care products, is responsible for vast deforestation and the displacement of endangered species. Our Planet Soap Company decided to forgo the use of palm oil in favor of olive oil—an environmentally gentle alternative.
To communicate Our Planet Soap’s message, Oliver Russell created an identity and packaging that highlights the brand’s efforts in conservation. The package design was inspired by apothecary cues to give the product a made-by-hand feel and was made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Each soap label represents an endangered animal and provides educational copy about the species. Additionally, we created packaging inserts, product displays, an e-commerce website, and produced a launch event. To help spread the word, we targeted journalists and influencers to showcase the brand, focusing on top-tier media recognition and high-profile influencer partnerships.
